PLACE
Our Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is exclusively sourced from well managed forests in the Pacific Northwest. Certification through the Forest Stewardship Councilā¢ ensures responsible sourcing and forest management practices that are environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable. Doug fir sourced from the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe supports a Tribal Enterprise, holistic forest stewardship, and Indigenous wisdom.
PURPOSE
Douglas fir is commonly used for structural framing in residential and commercial construction. It is also a popular choice for flooring, butcher block, trim, wall & ceiling cladding, and exterior siding. While it is a relatively soft wood, with proper care and maintenance, it can last for generations, as seen in the bevy of historic Portland homes utilizing this beautiful local wood.
PEOPLE
Sourcing from a network of local forest owners, mills, and fabricators supports a thriving local economy. Your purchases of FSCĀ® Certified and Tribal wood products helps ensure the long term resilience of our forests and communities. You can learn more in this video about the Cow Creek Umpqua People and their forest practices here.
