Incense Cedar

Call 503.239.9663 for current pricing and inventory

Our local Incense Cedar is sourced from the well-managed forests of the Umpqua Tribe and can be milled into a variety of useful products. Incense Cedar is lightweight and dimensionally stable, with excellent durability and rot resistance. It can be used for both interior and exterior applications. Local sourcing minimizes our carbon footprint, while supporting Tribal Enterprises in our region.

PLACE
Incense Cedar (Calocedrus decurrens) is an evergreen conifer, but is in the cypress family and not a true cedar.   It grows along the west coast of the US.   We source ours from the well-managed forests of the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians near Roseburg Oregon. Local sourcing minimizes our carbon footprint, while supporting Tribal Enterprises in our region.

PURPOSE
Known for its natural rot resistance, Incense Cedar is ideal for exterior applications such as siding, fencing, trim, fascia and soffits and makes a beautiful, aromatic wall & ceiling paneling for interiors.  It has a fine grain, is easy to work with, and is not as red in coloring as Western Red Cedar.   It is the most fire and drought resistant conifer species, which may serve us well as our climate changes.

PEOPLE
Supports local Tribal communities, small businesses and local fabrication shops who cut, dry and mill a variety of the useful products we offer in Incense Cedar.
