Restoration Juniper

Call 503.239.9663 for current pricing and inventory

Sourced from grassland & watershed restoration projects in Eastern Oregon, our Restoration Juniper performs exceptionally well in exterior applications and will last longer than cedar and redwood. Each piece is unique and can have a variety of character and knots, with a swirling grain pattern in warm cream and honey hues and makes a beautiful choice for rustic to modern interiors.

"As a past board member and supporter of Sustainable Northwest Wood, I can’t say enough about what a great organization it is. Their work with juniper is an economic driver across the urban rural divide and a very positive force for a better ecosystem in Eastern Oregon. SNWW is a great resource for contractors and homeowners across the Northwest."  -  Tom Kelly -  Neil Kelly Remodeling

PLACE
Juniper is a native species found throughout the high deserts of the West. Decades of wildfire suppression have allowed it to take over what was formerly a high desert grassland ecosystem. Its out-of-control population growth and thirst for limited water supplies lead to erosion and a loss of biodiversity. The removal of juniper is helping restore this fragile ecosystem, improving habitat for threatened Sage Grouse, salmon and other wildlife, restoring the flow of water in tributary streams in this arid region, and providing economic development in rural Oregon.

PURPOSE
Restoration Juniper is our name for Western Juniper (Juniperous occidentalis)  sourced from grassland and watershed restoration projects in Eastern Oregon. We are developing a variety of useful products utilizing this beautiful, durable wood while supporting small businesses in our local communities.  Juniper is incredibly rot resistant, making it ideal for exterior applications including garden boxes, landscape material, decking, fencing and siding and uniquely beautiful for interior products like butcher block, flooring, accent walls and ceiling paneling.

PEOPLE
We work with dozens of land owners, small sawmills and family owned businesses in rural Oregon who have a profound connection to the land and care deeply about restoring and protecting it for future generations.  Our commitment to create markets for juniper products helps restore the sagebrush steppe ecosystem and supports a network of hard working people in our region.
