Sankofa FSC® Recycled lumber is reclaimed from new construction waste in the Portland Metro area. Reuse of this refuse reduces waste, captures the embodied carbon that would normally be released during decay or burning for fuel, preserves precious natural resources, reduces green house emissions and keeps Good Wood out of the landfill.

PLACE
Every year, more than 500,000 TONS of clean wood are discarded from construction jobsites in Oregon alone. We are partnering with Sankofa Lumber to change that.  Sankofa processes construction wood waste into reusable, FSC Certified Recycled lumber in Portland Oregon.

PURPOSE
Recycling and reusing this wood waste is climate-smart, storing the embodied carbon when this wood is built back into buildings, reducing the need for new material and supports a local minority woman entrepreneur. Perfect for less than standard length studs in window & door framing, plating, blocking, temporary forms and more.

PEOPLE
Sankofa is a Minority Woman Owned Business,  whose founder Valerie Carey has a mission to reduce waste, create local jobs and close the loop on a circular economy. She employs a variety of disenfranchised people to give them a leg up, providing training and mentorship, and the skills for a better future.
