Myrtlewood is recognized for its striking variety of color and character, offering a range from blonde to dark chocolate to radiant gold. Minerals drawn up through the soil add a variety of accent color pops to make this a distinctive, local hardwood.

PLACE
Oregon Myrtle (Umbellularia californica),  also known as California Bay Laurel or pepperwood, is found along coastal areas in Southern Oregon and Northern California. These trees can live for several hundred years, regenerating itself from its roots if the trunk and branches are damaged.

PURPOSE
Myrtlewood makes uniquely beautiful and long-lasting flooring, furniture, cabinetry, butcher block and other interior products. It has a history of being sacred in mythology and symbolizes love and beauty. It is also known as a tonal wood and is sought by luthiers for instrument making.

PEOPLE
Our myrtlewood lumber is sourced from a small mill in Southern Oregon, that salvages logs from chip yards destined to be ground into pulp.   We partner with local fabrication shops to turn this beautiful local wood into the variety of interior products we offer.
